Job status

Dear all,

A newbie question. I'm going to initiate a mannual back for a few clients before they get decommisioned. Once executed i like to know the status of the job (Ideally if they have finished successfully) with some information as to when it was started,finished,etc.What are the commands options i should be using.Masterserver is Unix(solaris 10)
